SpringOne Platform Conference 2017 – By Professor Payman Salek

Live Reports from SpringOne Platform Conference

With 2800+ attendees, 145+ talks, 200+ speakers, 32 keynotes, and 43 sponsors, SpringOne Platform 2017 was simply amazing!

Day 1
I arrived in San Francisco Friday night and started my very intense, two-day pre-conference training in Spring Cloud Services this Sunday morning.

SpringOne Platform is the most notable Spring Platform conference and I feel very lucky to have been able to attend two years in a row! Last year, I did the two-day pre-conference training in Spring Boot and this year’s training in Spring Cloud Services builds right on top of Spring Boot!
I am learning how to break down the monolith and use Spring to create microservices. In the process, we are covering topics such as:

Day 2
Monday was the second day of my pre-conference training in Spring Cloud Services. We covered a lot of very interesting topics such as:

The training was very rich with hands on labs for all the technologies mentioned above! I learned a ton of stuff and feel more ready to face the world of “Microservices”!

Day 5
Thursday marked the last day of SpringOne Platform Conference!

The most amazing talk I attended today was a session on JUnit 5.0 by Sam Brennan. Amazing speaker and a great mini-training (including live demos) on JUnit 5.0!

Here is the complete list of talks I attended today (conference ended at 1:00pm):
  • Main Stage (including talks by: James Governor, Richard Watson and Mark Ardito)
  • JUnit 5.0 – New Opportunities for Testing on the JVM by Sam Brennan
  • Refactoring to a System of Systems by Oliver Gierke
Overall, SpringOne was an amazing experience! I learned a ton of new stuff and my views (particularly on Enterprise Architecture, DevOps and Spring Cloud Services) were expanded tremendously.
